Wow! It has been awhile!

So the last blog we did was all the back on January 30th and now it is May 17th. I can see now that keeping up with a blog during nursing school was a ridiculous idea, but I figured since the nursing semester has ended I could do some updating on how Jaimee and I are doing. I am not going to try and catch up on all the things that happened during the last semester because that would be way to hard. So right now I am currently taking summer classes. I am taking Microbiology and Psychology. Psychology was my favorite class in high school so I am really enjoying it here. If I didn't want to go into Nursing I would definitely consider Psychology, it is so interesting and I am so intrigued by it. Micro on the other hand is a bit on the boring side since it has a 3 hour lecture every Tuesday and Thursday and then lab after class that goes for about an hour and a half. The lab portion is pretty fun because we get to do lots of neat things with different bacteria. As for Jaimee, she started her job this week!!! She is working at Carriage Courts it is an assisted living place with people who have dementia about 2 minutes away from our apartment. She has worked every day this week and yesterday was her last day of training so she was on her own today. Since working there she always brings home new stories to tell about her 8 hour work day. For the last couple weeks Jaimee's sister has been staying with us since she has a job at King's Island. It is nice having another person in the apartment but we all have different schedules so just has someone is leaving the apartment someone else in coming home. We also have new neighbors; they are a young couple who recently got married. They are very nice and a lot better than the other neighbors we have had in the past. We are still looking into moving out of this apartment and one closer to the school in August with Bailey. We are keeping our options open but we are really trying to make a decision hopefully somewhat soon because August will be here before we know it. It will be an eventful summer for Jaimee and I. Jaimee with work and me with school and going home for the month of July. The spring semester of Nursing was mentally and emotionally exhausting and it is so great to have time to relax and just have fun!

Welcome back to Cincinnati

2 weekends ago Jaimee and I left Cincinnati to go on our separate ways. Jaimee to Chicago for Winter Retreat and Me back to Richmond to spend time with my family and Ben for the last weekend before he went back to Grove City. That weekend needed to be filled with fun but at the same time some studying because we had our first nursing exam that coming Monday. Plans changed a little and Jaimee ended up staying in Richmond because of the bad weather. Overall Jaimee and I had a wonderful weekend but let’s be honest we did not get studying accomplished. So on Sunday we both headed back to the apartment and decided we had to do some major studying because the exam was the next day Jaimee arrived back first and behold there was yet another problem with the apartment. Every time we come back there is always something new that goes wrong. This time it was blown fuses in both of our rooms. Even though it was no too big of a deal it was still very frustrating and did not get fixed in the appropriate amount of time like we were told. But anyways we finished studying that night and woke up the next morning to study some more before the first exam at 2:30. We managed to get through the test but not doing as well as we planned. That is okay though because it was only the first exam. Later that week we had a biology Lab exam so we knew we needed to study for that. In the mean time I got a letter from the court house on Tuesday saying I had been called as a witness on January 31st. I was extremely confused so I called the number on the form and find out what the whole thing was about. Well it ended up being about the traffic accident I was in on the 9th when someone rear ended me. I wasn't going to have her pay for the damage because it was very minimal, but obviously she didn't know that. So for some reason she went to the court and pleaded not guilty for running into the back of me which makes no sense at all seeing as it couldn't be anyone else’s fault. SO anyways tomorrow I have to be a court at 9 am. It will be an early morning and an extremely long day. But back to last week, we managed to not do very much studying for our lab exam but we both got A's so that’s good news. On Friday we were finally able to celebrate my birthday!! Bailey and Jaimee made me a cake! We got Chipotle for dinner! AND we got to watch the movie Courageous! It was an awesome night. The weekend then flew by with grocery shopping, church, and homework. During the weekend we found out that our past problem with the apartment had not gone away like we had hoped and prayed for. This really discourages us but we know God has a plan and somehow this will all work out. Please continue to pray for us because "it is always something" here in Cincinnati. So to sum it up we are feeling a happy homecoming to Cincinnati... not.  We hope and pray it gets better!!!

Noise and More Noise

So, hello everyone that i have not talk to in a long time. This is Jaimee here and i can tell it is going to be a long night. GOOD NEWS THE PEOPLE BELOW ME JUST TURNED THEIR TV OFF AND I CANT HEAR ANYTHING BUT MY LITTLE FINGERS TYPING! okay, so if you are curious about what i am talking about i'll inform you. The people below us like to watch endless television in the evening and they pop  a DVD in right before the want to fall asleep and they don't wake up for a while. SO, 12 o clock rolls around and the DVD is over and it goes to the disk menu which the music proceeds to play on repeat for a long time. It is irritating. i try and stomp on the floor to wake them up so that they remember to then turn off the TV. it worked last night but not this night. I've been praying for patients but when you get tired and you try every possible noise to reduce the noise below you just want to explode on someone. It is off now, and i plan on leaving a note on their mailbox in the morning asking them if they would kindly be considerate of their neighbors.

On another note, Sam and Ben are coming in the morning to visit us! I am so very excited about that. Morgan and i have to get up early today and get the apartment in ship shape for their arrival. Since it is a small apartment it wont be much of a chore for us though.

I guess our plans for tomorrow will include watching Lord of the Rings 2 and then in the evening Morgan and I will be making them dinner! As i sit here and think of what i want to talk about next, i am just going to tell you about how school is right now. Clinical's for us (Morgan Bailey and I) are Wednesday Evening from 2:00pm - 10:30pm. I love it so much more than morning clinical. I am so much more awake and ready to do stuff compared to last semester. The day is longer, but we also get to begin to give medications to the patients (supervised of course). Research on our patients takes so much longer this semester because we have to write down all their Meds and a bunch of information for each of them. We have to understand what we are giving them and why. The three of us are on the Oncology floor, which is the cancer unit. I am excited to be on this floor because i will not get to experience new things and i am happy for the change where i wont have to be doing a bed bath every day along with the usual vital signs and standing around.

Our Nursing 150 class is much more work for us than last year. I can already see that and it is only the second week. My eye balls feel like they might fall out from all the reading i have done. Some of it is interesting, but sometimes it is so much reading that i cannot concentrate. Though, tonight i found out if i listen to Beethoven when i read, i can focus on it better. Isn't that so cool?

Well, its 2:15 and now i am getting drowsy. I do need some sleep right now. I have to be up by 9 to get a shower in and some apartment cleaning done before the boys arrive. I hope i am not so tired that i cannot fall asleep. Wish me luck, and pray that the people below can begin to be more quiet the rest of their time here.

Goodnight everyone
Lots of love from us

-Jaimee
