First Day of Clinicals!

Today was an early morning! When i say "early morning" i really mean EARLY morning. Well for me at least. 5:30 was when i heard my mario music sound alike alarm screaming at me to wake up. It was not a fantastic feeling at all. I really had a thought run through my mind that said "ten more minutes, you wont be late" BUT....i was a good girl and rolled out of bed and got ready. I could tell that Morgan was not wanting to be up either becaue i went in her room and she was still laying in bed. We were soon dressed in our oversized white scrubs for clinicals, and we were rolling out at 6:00 to head to the Baldwin Parking Garage. No driving mistakes this morning at all! I was so proud of my navigation skills, and the fact that we were there right on time, AND got a good parking spot at the top right where the shuttle picks us up.Morgan and I are not in the same clinical groups, so when we got to the school we went our seperate ways. Well I can only tell you from my experience, but i was overwhelmed today. I was so stressed with all the stuff they were telling us today, and i felt like my head would expload from all the information they were throwing at me in that six and a half hours worth of time. We were able to go up to the different floors we would be working in the next 18 weeks or so. I am on the geriatrics floor, which means older people. Our floor is super strick on how careful you are being with the patients. Their goal is to reduce the amout of falls that happen on that floor, and they have signs posted on the doors of people with a high risk of falling. This made me a little nervous, but im confident that they will teach me what i need to know. Well, we do have a TON of homework for Nursing 120 clinicals next wednesday, Alot of reading is involved. Next Wednesday we learn proper handwashing, bathing patients, stuff like that. Soon we are actually gonna be working in the hospital which is exciting!! After clinicals, we dropped Bailey off at her place and went home for a few hours before we had to go back for our Ethics class.

Today was a cool day in there. He presented us with the question "Is it right for you to switch to a better seat from your purchased seat at a game?" You really have to think about it. How many of you would switch your ten dollar seat for a fifty dollar seat if that person never showed up? If you could get away with it does it make it ethical? What do you base that answer on? Would you choose not to do it just because you might get caught? Would you do it if everyone else in the stadium did it? What do you think the owners would think if they knew you did it? Would you consider yourself breaking a legal agreement you made when you purchased the ticket? Would it even matter at all?

Thats the kind of stuff we talked about in there. It was so interesting to think about what my thoughts were about it. Well After ethics, we both headed home and morgan made chicken salad sandwiches for dinner while i took a quiz for Nursing 100. We sat in the living room watching an episode of Criminal Minds on the internet and then thats about it. Now im typing this out and about to be done and read my book.

Tomorrow is a good day because we only have one class at 1:30 which is our Biology class.
Goodnight everyone!
Continue to pray for my foot, and for Morgan and I as we are getting into the tough part of nursing school

Oh yeah, i just realized how lucky i am to be in this college. Did you know that at most nursing school, you are on a waiting list for about 2-3 years just to get in your clinicals. WOW! Morgan and I are both starting clinicals our first year! Thank you Lord for this amazing blessing of getting us into a great school. I know it will be tough, but we are here for a reason, and we wouldnt be here if we couldnt do it =)

Goodnight for REAL this time!!
